Intro to Generative Typography with p5.js
Typography as we know it has taken on many different shapes in our lifetimes: we've cast them into metal, cut them out of woodblocks, painted them across awnings and signs, and scrawled them onto our most personal letters.

We will experiment with themes, composition and colors that are typical of the traditional style.

Workshop: Type for Lettering
Workshop: Type for Lettering
Type Design and Lettering sometimes feel in opposition to each other: Type is largely a game of systems, while Lettering allows for more improvisation. But their powers can be combined, opening up channels to make efficient, consistent lettering with a whole lot of character. This workshop is designed for students, recent grads or working professionals looking to make dynamic lettering for commercial design, branding, illustration, or just for the love of it!

Real Brush Lettering
Real Brush Lettering
In this workshop we will explore the fundamentals of the true “brush lettering”, that is, we will make lettering with a brush considering valuable type design aspects such as expression, style, composition, rhythm and balance between negative-positive space. We will use the brush not as a final finishing tool, but as a mean of sketching and exploration.
We will work very similar to the way sign-painters or lettering artists do, through a sketching and adjustment process until we reach a final piece where the brush was the main source of personality and originality.
