Diseño tipográfico analógico

Types, paper and scissors! In this workshop we will work with a purely analogous method to design a typeface. It will not only be about sketching on paper, but also addressing most of the conceptual, technical and aesthetic aspects before going digital.

From a free and organic perspective, we will push the expressiveness and letterform design to the limit, always taking into account a functional typographic system.

Shaping type into logotype

Shaping type into logotype

There is only one step from type to logotype - or a few actually. In this workshop built on a practical approach, we will create a logo based on our own custom typography or retail. We will learn about the fundamentals of typographic design, being attentive to anatomy, structure, white space and creative possibilities.

With these concepts in mind, we will also seek to refine and improve existing logos. In addition, we will explore the stylistic possibilities and formal limits of letters in order to achieve a transformation that gives them a unique and accessible voice.

Real Brush Lettering

In this workshop we will explore the fundamentals of the true “brush lettering”, that is, we will make lettering with a brush considering valuable type design aspects such as expression, style, composition, rhythm and balance between negative-positive space. We will use the brush not as a final finishing tool, but as a mean of sketching and exploration.

We will work very similar to the way sign-painters or lettering artists do, through a sketching and adjustment process until we reach a final piece where the brush was the main source of personality and originality.
